2 and 3

a bottle cap & a bird feeder

a bottle cap: If Josh & I had our own soda, we would serve it in glass bottles. The cap might look something like the one pictured above. And while we are pretending, I thought 1683 sounded like a good year to begin production.

a bird feeder: The other night, Josh and I bought our first bird feeder. There was a little snow on the ground this weekend, so everything looked pretty and wintery and it was perfect weather for filling out birdhouse, scattering the seeds, and waiting for the birds to come. So far, we've spotted cardinals, tufted titmice, a white-breasted nuthatch, a sparrow, and dark-eyed juncos. I found a photo of a white-breasted nuthatch online and drew it for today's picture. I sort of ran out of time and space for the bird feeder and ended up hastily squeezing it into the background. Oh well. :)

  1. Soda in glass bottles. Wow, Sarah. That takes me back! I remember spending weekends with my Aunt Mary when I was a child. Every evening, we would grab a bottle of Coke (in a glass bottle) and a few Butter Thin cookies and sit and watch tv shows like Wagon Train. Who knows. Maybe you and Josh WILL have your own soda in years to come.

And oh, I love hearing about your birds. It's such a sweet little joy in life, watching for and helping to care for the little birds. Be prepared for the arrival of the squirrels! I think they love bird seed even more than the birds do.

  2. ya know there's people who hand letter for a living (did you know? i've only recently delved into the culture)aaand you obviously have a knack for it. it's a very coveted talent these days in the art+design culture. check out this little lettering/packaging studio in new york http://www.louisefili.com/blog/. the girl in the photo on the right does chalk lettering as her main source of income (what!) anyway, now you know you have a skill set to fall back on if ever need be. ;)

p.s. 1683 is a great year to start a soda company.
